Nicolaï Della Guerra was born the 20th of July 1990 in Germany. With an Italian father and a Bulgarian mother, he develops from early on a taste for eclecticism and interculturality. At a very young age, Nicolaï begins to study the piano at the Conservatoire de Lyon. In 2011, he graduates in Musical Studies in parallel with a general course ( a High School Diploma in Literature and a Bachelor in Foreign Languages at the University Lyon3). He then devotes himself entirely to his musical training and begins studying Harmony, Jazz, accompaniment and the harpsichord at the Conservatoire de Lyon, following at the same time the unique teachings of three great piano masters: Romano Pallottini, Fabio Bidini and Jacques Rouvier. In 2015, Nicolaï joins the Conservatoire de Bruxelles to study composition, conducting and the piano, following the teachings of Peter Swinnen, Johan Schmidt and Piet Kuijken.
Between 2005 and 2010, in parallel with his studies, he joins a rock band with which he gives many concerts, most notably at the Ninkasi Kao, a big concert hall dedicated to Lyon’s contemporary music scene. From this experience was born a particular interest for Eastern music and the Balkans. Nicolaï often interprets this specific sensitivity with other musicians by giving concerts or participating in festivals.
He is often invited as a pianist or composer in various festivals. Nicolaï participated twice at the Lumière Festival (2013 and 2014 editions) as a guest pianist for improvised film concerts. In 2016, he introduces his first piece of work in the prestigious Salle Cortot in Paris and collaborates on the ThinkEnergy project, given at the Venice Biennale and the Milano Design Festival.
